Our Philosophy

Inspired by the innovative schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, our Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum and philosophy focus on the emerging interests of children. Each child brings a unique perspective and experience to the classroom community. Through engagement with rich materials, problem-solving with peers, and theory building, children are afforded opportunities to construct knowledge of the world around them.

Image of the Child

We believe children are competent and capable of driving their own learning. They are full of wonder, curiosity, and a love for learning. Through active engagement with peers, teachers, the environment, and the materials within it, children build an understanding of the world around them.

Our staff respects parents roles as the primary and most important influence in children’s lives. We strive to build partnership with families to support the child’s optimum learning and development. We believe that parents are an integral part of the success of our school community and a building block in creating a unique school culture.  Through active parent participation, a child’s daily life and experience while at school are enriched.

Partnerships with Parents

Teachers act as co-learners and researchers with the children.  We believe teachers and children learn in tandem. Our cycle of curriculum planning is built on keen observations, intentional implementation, and thoughtful reflection.

The Role of the Teacher

We view the environment as the third teacher (the first and second being the teachers and children).  The indoor and outdoor classrooms and materials that live in them are everchanging and are reflective of the classroom culture.  We believe children learn best when their learning environment is responsive to the many ideas and theories they explore daily.
